Crime Point Camera System Lauded

Friday, December 4th, 2009

At a Board meeting on 12/1/2009, the Calvert County (MD) Commissioners praised an interdisciplinary County technology team for the effective use of Crime Point video surveillance systems in solving crime within 48 hours of initial deployment. Sheriffs and IT staff received the county’s “Team Excellence” award for their selection, purchase, and successful use of the sophisticated police surveillance technology.

Commissioner Barbara Stinnett noted, “By virtue of the fact that it’s already done what it was intended to do — that is catch somebody doing what wrong they have done — it’s already paid for itself.”

Of the Crime Point equipment, Sheriffs Department Commander Steven R. Jones said, “The beauty of having (the)system is the cost for manpower hours is greatly reduced…Ultimately more cases will be solved for less money…This is without a doubt the best piece of surveillance equipment that the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has.”
